The Well-Dressed Groom

If your groom is still deciding what he should wear on your big day, Eddie Fischer, owner of Saverio Custom Clothiers in Scottsdale, has some helpful advice. “His clothing should reflect his own personal style and lifestyle,” he says. Your groom might opt for a traditional tuxedo or suit, or, if you’re having a destination wedding, a more casual look such as linen pants and a blazer.

“This is the time that the groom can think about his perfect ensemble,” he continues, “and, most importantly, the fit.” He tells grooms, “For your biggest day you want to look your best for your bride, so consider the custom, hand-tailored approach. You’ll look great and feel great.” A custom clothier can also provide accessories such as custom ties and engraved cuff links.

Eddie quickly dispels the notion that having a tuxedo or suit custom-tailored is too aristocratic or stuffy. “We do a lot of custom casual, too,” he says. He tells grooms, “These are things that you can keep in your wardrobe for years to come. If you’re not going to do a whole suit, at least do a custom shirt. You’ll look phenomenal.”

Another option is to go with designer formalwear. Mr. Formal, which has four convenient locations in the Phoenix metro area, offers styles by designers such as Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Joseph Abboud, and Jean Yves. Suits and tuxedos are available for both rental and purchase.

A groom should start working with his clothier at least three months in advance of  the wedding to ensure the perfect custom fit. He may even want to bring his father and/or groomsmen to be fitted at the same time. As Eddie tells his grooms, “The pictures that are going to be taken that day are lifetime portraits. You’ll want to look your very best.”
