Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! As you start checking items off your “to do” list, don’t forget to get an early start on your beauty regimen.

Here is a five-step guide to getting ready for the most gorgeous day of your life:

1. Pamper your skin
The most important step to having your makeup look fantastic on your big day is having your skin look fantastic underneath. Start by having a facial. You’ll feel pampered, and your skin will be analyzed and you can make any product adjustments necessary to make your complexion luminous. Ask about microdermabrasion and peels, and set up a program that will get your skin looking drop dead gorgeous!

2. Groom your brows
Eyebrows make an incredible difference to your face. Have them professionally groomed and reshaped to optimize the shape of your eyes. Don’t wait until the week before your wedding to try out a new brow shape. Do it well ahead of time so that you can see how it looks, then maintain them and redo them the week of the wedding.

3. Check your tan lines
Face it — we all look better with a tan, but a real tan exposes your skin to dangerous sun damage, so an airbrush tan is a far better option. It will give you beautiful even color, and can even make your muscles look toned. Airbrush tans are not all created equal, though. Try out some different ones in the months leading up to your wedding, and find one that doesn’t have an unpleasant odor and has the color that flatters you the most.

4. Get a bright, white smile
Have your teeth whitened for your big day. You will be smiling all day long and having pictures taken that will last a lifetime, so make sure your smile is going to be sparkling and white! Depending on your budget, you can have an in-office procedure with your dentist, get custom fitted trays, or even use over-the-counter whitening strips. Nothing is more lovely than a sparkling smile!

5. Book your makeup asap!
Find a makeup artist and book a trial makeup session as quickly as possible. Makeup artists get booked up very quickly, so find someone whose work you really love, then sign your contract and make your deposit. Show her pictures of makeup you love, and work with her to get your most gorgeous look for your big day.
