Custom Veils & Tiaras
Having a veil custom designed to match your wedding dress can be easier than you may realize. A custom veil designer can expertly match the fabrics, beading and other design elements of your wedding dress to create a one-of-a-kind veil at a price that’s surprisingly affordable.
Another advantage of having your veil custom-designed is that you can choose your ideal length and style. Will you want to wear your veil over your face? What about length? Do you want it to be shoulder length or longer? If you like the formal look of a cathedral-length veil, which can be as much as 10-12 feet long, you can ask your designer to make the cathedral portion detachable, so you can wear a shorter layer for the reception.
Leah Janes, owner of A Silver Lining Bridal Veils & Tiaras, personally designs and handcrafts custom veils at her home in Queen Creek. “I hear a lot of brides saying that they don’t want a veil unless it can match their dress exactly,” she says. “I can do that.”
Leah requires a lead time of six to eight weeks and asks each bride to bring her dress to the consultation if possible, but she can work from a detailed photo if necessary. “We’ll design their veil one element at a time,” she explains. “We’ll try on all the options that I have for length or fullness.” She then carefully selects elements such as Swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls, beads, sequins and ribbons so she can match the design of the dress.
Leah notes that most veils sold by bridal salons are not designed by the same companies that design the dresses, so it can be difficult to get an exact match. Plus, she adds, “some of the designer dresses are now coming in very unusual colors of white, and most of the veil designers don’t carry those colors. Most of the time, I can successfully match the color for the bride.”
Like many custom veil designers, Leah also offers bridal headbands, combs, bobbie pins and other hair accents. She also handcrafts custom tiaras for brides who want to add that perfect crowning touch.
