Have you ever been lucky enough to attend an Indian wedding? They’re absolutely fabulous with their over-the-top use of rich fabrics, vibrant colors, and intricate jewelry. Ashley Gain of Ashley Gain Weddings & Events took her cues from these lavish events to stage this “All American Girl Meets Bollywood” wedding at Montelucia Resort & Spa.

Ashley’s creative East-meets-West color theme blends a rich, Indian red with girly-girl pink. You can see it everywhere here, from the towering floral centerpieces to the lush table linens to the tiniest jeweled details on the paper goods. And who ever said that only women can wear saris? Ashley ingeniously used strips of luxurious sari fabrics to create these dazzling chair skirts. And the spray of vivid red roses makes the end chair stand out from the rest. Who wouldn’t want to sit at the head of this table? Even more flowers delicately hang down from the tall centerpieces. They look like they’re floating on air…just like our bride and groom.

The bride’s dress is totally contemporary, yet its delicate gold beading and gold stitching pay tribute to the traditional Indian wedding jewelry she’s wearing. The delicate red, pink and gold jewelry adorning the bride’s forehead is called a tikka, and it calls even more attention to her beautiful face. And what a fun touch it is to offer colorful bangle bracelets for the guests to jingle on their wrists!
The individual three-tiered wedding cakes with their elegant gold detailing are almost too beautiful to eat. (Notice we said almost.) Imagine how delighted your guests would be to be served one of these! The plates, flatware and stemware also command attention with their intricate gold designs.
The happy marriage of flowers and candles in the lanterns absolutely glows with elegance and warmth. And the use of colorful floor cushions as additional seating is far more creative than using “plain Jane” chairs. It’s a clever way to add more splashes of color.
Ashley’s culturally creative wedding design started with the right inspiration. As she often tells her brides, “You can take any theme and really turn it into your day. Just start somewhere, then grow your ideas.”
